How it Began
Our founder is a music-lover, artist, social activist, environmentalist, avid hiker and life-long volunteer with non-profit and humanitarian organizations. Play it Forward designs began when she asked a friend for used guitar strings to create holiday gifts.
The initial woven bracelet designs were a hit amongst her family and friends who encouraged her to sell them. She began asking musician friends and acquaintances to recycle their used strings by donating them, and to also select charities to receive the profits from the sale of the created pieces.
The marriage of her many passions: art, music, environmentalism and humanitarian work, became Play it Forward designs. The wonderful spirit and energy that has grown from this has been overwhelming! People feel good knowing their donation of musicial components, or their purchase of wearable art made with those items, will help others in need.
Now, a group of like-minded, kind-hearted volunteers have joined in Playing it Forward. Watch for new designs and events along the way, and feel free to let us know what you think!
